When 520 Meets World Metrology Day | Precision Measures Love, Technology Guards Vows
2025.07.22
The air is filled with a sweet fragrance on May 20th.
This day is not only a day to express love but also a memorable day for those in the weighing industry.
World Metrology Day brings together romance and rigor, as expressions of love meet precise measurements.
The stories of the weighing professionals on 520 begin here...
May 20, 2025, marks the 26th 'World Metrology Day' and the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Metric Convention. The International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) jointly determined the global theme for 'World Metrology Day' in 2025 as 'Measurements for all times, for all people', which translates to 'Metrology meets the needs of the times and responds to the expectations of the people' in Chinese.
World Metrology Day commemorates the signing of the Metre Convention on May 20, 1875. The Metre Convention laid the foundation for a globally coordinated measurement system that supports scientific discovery and innovation, industrial manufacturing, international trade, as well as improvements in quality of life and global environmental protection. In response to calls from the International Metrology Organization, China has actively participated since 2000, with the State Council's administrative department for metrology organizing 'World Metrology Day' activities annually. These activities aim to promote metrology work and popularize metrology knowledge across society.
520 and Measurement Day: seemingly distant, yet resonant
520 is a declaration code between lovers, a romantic homophone for 'I love you'. World Metrology Day was established to commemorate the signing of the Metric Convention, aiming to highlight the profound significance of 'precise measurement' on technological progress, industrial development, and even the quality of life.
Two seemingly unrelated holidays resonate quietly through 'carefulness' and 'precision':
Love requires precise expression: the weight of a bouquet of flowers, the size of an engagement ring, the temperature of a candlelit dinner... The meticulous care hidden in the details reveals the measure of love.
Measurement is a silent promise: from precision instruments in laboratories to fair scales in supermarkets, from industrial sensors to smart weighing devices, precise measurement ensures quality and is a commitment to users.

Known for its technology, it interprets the 'precise philosophy' of love.
In the world of weighing instruments, 'accuracy' is an inherent pursuit. Just as love requires careful nurturing, the creation of each scale embodies an extreme control over details:
Raw material inspection: An error of 0.01 grams may determine the lifespan of a scale;
Production calibration: Temperature, humidity, electromagnetic interference... countless variables are precisely tamed;
Quality commitment: Every certificate of departure is a silent 'love letter'—'Your trust, we respond with precision'.
Just as there is no 'close enough' in love, in the field of measurement, even a 'fractional difference' might trigger a butterfly effect. Whether it's weight monitoring on industrial production lines or micro-analysis in laboratories, weighers always safeguard the authenticity and reliability of every measurement with technological power.

Love requires a sense of ceremony, but it relies even more on daily dedication; measurement seeks instant precision, but it depends more on years of technical accumulation. May everyone find the 'precise' answers in their lives: in love, it's thethat knows your warmth and cold; in career, it's the craftsmanship that pays attention to every detail; in life, it's the reassurance brought by technological empowerment.
